Ceramic Extrusion

In ceramic extrusion, the rheology modifying effect of KimaCell cellulose ether prevents solid precipitation and supports good flow of glass pastes, ensuring uniform coating of ceramic bodies. In the dry state, the cellulose ether enhances the bonding ability of the glaze film to the ceramic surface, making it smooth and stable.


Inorganic substances such as cordierite are mixed with lubricants, plasticizers and water, and pressed through an extruder under high pressure and high temperature to form an extruded body. This approach is useful when producing long, symmetrical products in a continuous process, such as the honeycomb structures of auto catalysts. KimaCell cellulose ethers help improve water retention, lubricity and green strength.


Honeycomb ceramic is a kind of ceramic product with a special structure similar to the honeycomb shape. It has excellent characteristics such as large specific surface area, light weight, low thermal expansion coefficient, large specific heat capacity, good thermal conductivity, and good thermal shock resistance.
