In ceramic extrusion, inorganic substances such as cordierite are mixed with lubricants, plasticizers and water, and pressed through an ceramic extruder under high pressure and high temperature to form extrudates. This approach is useful when producing long, symmetrical products in a continuous process, such as the honeycomb structures of auto catalysts.
